Lenovo, Vodafone and Ericsson bring down cost of integrated laptop mobile broadband

Lenovo, Vodafone and Ericsson have joined forces to lower the cost of integrated mobile broadband in laptops.

The initiative significantly lowers the cost of built-in mobile broadband technology across the entire range of upcoming Lenovo ThinkPad notebooks.

Typically, notebooks with built-in technology, which includes antennae and a SIM card, cost anything up to £100 more than notebooks without a built-in mobile broadband module.

From 4 August, a new range of Lenovo notebooks will be launched with integrated mobile broadband "at approximately the same price as those without mobile broadband", said the partners.

Ericsson's built-in modules for mobile broadband will be supplied with ThinkPad notebooks in the performance T and ultraportable X Series and with all of Lenovo's new ThinkPad SL Series notebooks.

Lenovo designed the three ThinkPad SL notebooks specifically for the small-to-medium business user who increasingly relies on 24/7 connectivity.

Users can easily connect to the internet by accessing Vodafone's mobile broadband service. Users will also receive a 30-day free trial from Vodafone with the option to continue with a paid-for service.
